Ethylene Bis Stearamide (EBS)

Ethylene Bis Stearamide (EBS), also known as amide wax or N,N'-Ethylene Bisstearamide (abbreviated as EBS/EBA), is a fine white powder with the chemical formula C₁₇H₃₅CONHCH₂CH₂NHCOC₁₇H₃₅ and a molecular weight of 593.04. Widely used as a lubricant, release agent, and anti-blocking additive in plastics, rubber, and coatings. Enhances surface smoothness and processing efficiency in polymer applications

Main Applications

(1) Plastics

Acts as an internal/external lubricant and release agent for various thermoplastics and thermosetting plastics, including:
• Typical applications: ABS, PS, AS, PVC
• Extended applications: PE, PP, PVAC, cellulose acetate, nylon, phenolic resin, and amino plastics
→ Enhances surface finish and mold release performance

• PUR injection molding: Functions as an internal release agent at 0.1-1% dosage
• POM (Polyoxymethylene):

0.5% addition increases melt flow rate

Improves demolding while maintaining whiteness, thermal stability, and premium physical properties

(2) Rubber

• Added at 1-3% in emulsions of synthetic resins/rubbers (vinyl, polychloroprene, SBR) to prevent adhesion/caking
• Automotive applications (floor mats, drain pipes): Enhances surface gloss

(3) Synthetic Fibers

Improves heat/weather resistance and flowability of polyester/polyamide fibers, with anti-static effects

(4) Release Agent

Functions as a release agent for phenolic resin-bonded foundry sand

(5) Pigment & Filler Dispersant

• Masterbatch applications: ABS, PS, PP, PET masterbatches (0.5-5% dosage, varies with pigment content)
• Acts as a diffusion powder for plastic coloration

(6) Powder Coatings

Serves as a flow control additive

(7) Coatings & Inks

• Paints/varnishes: 0.5-2% addition improves salt spray/moisture resistance
• Baking enamels: Enhances surface leveling
• Furnish polishes/printing inks: Matting agent
• Micronized grade (d50≈6μm, d90≈12μm):

Reduces abrasion & improves slip

Enhances sandability in lacquer systems

Eliminates air entrapment on porous surfaces

Requires high-shear dispersion (0.5-1% dosage)

• Petroleum products: Melting point modifier
• Metal wire drawing: Lubricant & anti-corrosion agent
• Electronic components: Potting compound
• Paper industry: Defoamer & coating component
• Textile dyeing: Permanent water repellent & defoamer
